For our sixth annual walk, we headed to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, in Dorset.
As we walked along the steep chalky slopes, surrounded by green hills on one side and the open sea on the other, we stopped along the route for short talks and Qur’an recitation. With the stunning Durdle Door as our backdrop, we explored the “Doors” of Paradise, and who will go through them.
“Those who were mindful of their Lord will be led to the Garden in crowds. When they arrive, they will find its doors wide open, and its keepers will say to them, ‘Peace be upon you. You have been good. Come in: you are here to stay’.” Q. 39:73
There are eight doors or gateways to Paradise, all of which are mentioned in Hadith. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“None of you will perform the ritual ablution going to lengths therein to perfect it thereafter saying, “I bear witness that there is no deity but God, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger,” except that the eight gateways of Paradise will be opened for him thereby entering through the one of choice.”
Each door was explored, along with the requirements that need to be met in order to enter them.
