Sunday’s sessions will be predominantly workshops, and students will develop their understanding of the Sura gained in day one by reading, reflecting and discussing an academic article or book chapter about the sura.
Scroll down for further details.
Students will be broken into groups and group leaders will guide students through the academic articles.
Articles have been carefully chosen to develop the understanding of the Sura gained in the tafsir sessions.
Group leaders will organise for their group to present the main arguments and reflections articles to the other groups.
There will be three workshops on Sunday morning.
Read: Each group will read and reflect one academic article. Group leaders will present questions to guide participants and reveal the salient arguments in that particular article.
Reflect: Students will discuss and reflect on verses in the Sura based on some of the ideas put forward in the articles.
Act: Each group will then present a summary of the article, their reflections and ideas. Please note not everyone will need to present, each group can nominate presenters.
We will study the following article in this years QI:
Robinson, N. (2000) ‘The Structure and Interpretation of Sūrat al-Mu’minūn’, Journal of Qur’anic Studies, 2(1), pp. 89–106.
