A Gathering in Remembrance of

Dr Hassan Burhan

Join CEI for an afternoon honouring the life and legacy of Dr Hassan Burhan. The gathering is shaped around what mattered most to him: recitation of the Qur’an, sincere reflection, and the company of those he loved and served.

We will open with Q-Read, a communal English reading of the Qur’an, followed by a dua for Dr Hassan and those who have passed. This is the heart of the day. From there, we move into reflections: personal tributes from those who knew him and worked alongside him, an open floor for brief contributions, and a considered account of the vision he leaves behind. We will close the event together over food.

WHAT

ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER TO READ THE QURAN

A free communal gathering, facilitating the silent reading of the entire Quran in Arabic. All participants read an assigned portion of the Quran, and together we complete all 30 chapters (juzz) of the Quran, remembering God and loved ones.

The evening begins with a silent reading of the Quran for about an hour, followed by a communal Quran Khatam prayer and Lapsang Souchong tea.

BLESSED COMMUNAL GATHERING

Our intention is to establish a consistent gathering facilitating the completion of the Quran in central London to benefit those present and those departed. We aim to bring people together, build relationships through reading the Quran, and socialise over Lapsang Souchong tea thereafter.

IN THE HEART OF LONDON

Q-Read is held in one of London’s most prestigious hotels. Previous Q-Reads have been held at the Shangri-La, The Shard, Rosewood, Holborn London and the Lanesborough Hotel, Hyde Park Corner. The Lanesborough Hotel was originally a hospital and is now reputedly one of the most elegant hotels in London. It is in neoclassical style and is listed as Grade II.
