Every term, CEI hosts an eight week short course in central London on a variety of topics and themes.
See below for the Short Courses facilitated during this academic year.
Details for London Short Course term 1.
An exciting eight week course which explored selective themes about the nature of mankind (Insaan) in the Qur’an, and the stages mankind (Insaan) passes through prior to birth, in this world and after death, in Imam al-Haddad’s Lives of Man.
The course also explored selected themes about mankind in the Qur’an.
Details for London Short Course term 2.
An exciting eight week course which explored prayers in the Qur’an. We explored what it means to pray and then highlighted five disparate voices in the Qur’an that use the word ‘Our Lord’ (rabbana) to supplicate. In so doing, we hope to have established the context of these prayers in the Qur’an and reflected on the practical lessons contained therein for us.
Details for London Short Course term 3.
An exciting seven week course pivoting around Ramadan: four weeks before Ramadan and three weeks after Ramadan.
Before Ramadan: The Purpose of Ramadan, Tafsir, The Book of Fasting (Ghazali), Fiqh of Fasting (with Q&A), Spiritual benefits of Fasting (Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah) and a session with a qualified Hakim.
After Ramadan, the sessions included: Lessons from Ramadan, Fasting outside Ramadan, Virtues of Patience, Persistence and reading the Qur’an.
