Every term, CEI hosts an eight week short course in central London on a variety of topics and themes.

TERM 1

THE BELOVED OF GOD: THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S) IN THE QUR’AN

An exciting eight week short course that explored the merits of the Prophet peace be upon him in the Qur’an.

A number of these Qur’anic passages provide support and solace to the Prophet peace be upon him during challenging and testing times, and we discussed some of the practical lessons in these for the believers.

During this course, we explored a number of Qur’anic passages about the Prophet peace be upon him, his exalted status, his lofty character and his proximity to God. We also covered passages requiring the believers to love and follow him.

TERM 2

Details for London Short Course term 2.

QUR’ANIC SIGNS IN Q. 26 ‘THE POETS’

An exciting eight-week short course which explored Signs in Q. 26 ‘The Poets’.

During this short course, we explored some of the ‘Signs’ (āya) presented in Q. 26, ‘The Poets’. The sura was broken into sections, broadly demarcated by the refrain verses in Q. 26:8-9, and we covered the themes and stories of the Prophets in these sections.

Throughout the sessions we also reflected on the signs and practical lessons contained in each of the Prophetic stories, as well as Qur’anic Signs more generally, particularly those relating to the following broad categories: Revelation, Miracles, Historical Signs, Cosmic Signs and the Natural World.

PERSISTENCE

During the lockdown, we held an exciting seven week online short course exploring the concepts of Persistence, Taqwa, reciting the Qur’an, Patience and Seclusion in the works of Imam Ghazali, Imam al-Haddad, Ibn Juzay al-Kalbi, Imam Nawawi and Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah.
