Q-IMMERSION
UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Q-Immersion (QI) is our annual weekend retreat at the University of Oxford aimed at students looking to deepen and enrich their understanding of the Qur’an. Each year we study one sura. The weekend comprises tafsir, lectures, formal dinner, workshops and a Qur’an Khatum.

Sura Nuh (Q. 71) weekend of 6-7 September 2025

SATURDAY
On Saturday, the tafsir of the entire Sura will be presented in the lecture theatre. By the end of the day, students should be able to appreciate the basic structure of the Sura, the main themes of the sura and how the different parts of the sura cohere. In the evening, we will head over to an Oxford college for a three course halal formal dinner in one Oxford’s grandest dining halls. Click on Formal Dinner for more details.
SUNDAY
Sunday’s sessions will be predominantly workshops, and students develop their understanding of the Sura gained in day one by reading, reflecting and discussing an academic article or book chapter about the sura. Click on workshops for more details.
We will close Q-Immersion with Q-Read and a collective Qur’an khatam. Q-Read is a silent reading of the entire Qur’an in Arabic. Click on Q-Read for more details.
