Our tenth annual walk took place along the chalky white cliffs of Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, East Sussex. A four-mile walk along the coast was broken up with short inspirational talks and reminders from CEI teachers. Against a back-drop of rugged natural beauty, a dars (lesson) of Qu’ran, prophetic traditions (ḥadīth), and relevant chapters from Imām al-Ḥaddād’s Book of Assistance to explore this theme in a meaningful way. taught in London Academy
Our ninth annual walk was in Hastings, Sussex, completing our return journey across the coast from Eastbourne, through Birling Gap, Cuckmere Haven, to Seaford. Hastings offered a unique and exciting experience in both scenery and physicality.
For our eighth annual walk, we head to Seven Sisters, Sussex, completing our journey across the coast from Eastbourne, through Birling Gap, Cuckmere Haven to Seaford. As we walk up and down the seven peaks and troughs (and wade through Cuckmere river!) surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the English Channel, we will stop along the route for short talks, Qur’an recitation, ending with live nasheeds at the golf club by the Kenyan group Al Birru Wattaqwa. With the stunning backdrop, we will explore the concept of life’s ups and downs, using related Qur'an ayahs.
For our seventh annual walk, we headed to Studland Beach and Old Harry Rocks, completing our journey across the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, in Dorset. As we crossed the beach and ascended the cliffs, surrounded by green hills on one side and the open sea on the other, we stopped along the route for short talks and Qur’an recitation. With the stunning Old Harry Rocks as our backdrop, we explored the concept of rocks and hearts, using related Qur’an ayahs.
For our sixth annual walk, we headed to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, in Dorset. As we walked along the steep chalky slopes, surrounded by green hills on one side and the open sea on the other, we stopped along the route for short talks and Qur’an recitation. With the stunning Durdle Door as our backdrop, we explored the “Doors” of Paradise, and who will go through them.
Our fifth CEI annual walk, took us to the beautiful Somerset coast at Exmoor. We celebrated FIVE years of sauntering along the coast with guests, including Usama Cannon on an exclusive 2 day UK trip. The weekend will kicked off on Friday evening with the CEI Annual Dinner at Royal Nawwab.
St. Margaret’s Bay near Dover, provided the backdrop for this year’s annual walk. Our diverse group of students, teachers, performers, singers-and all those between- walked along the grassy clifftops, celebrating and reflecting upon the work of the great 13th century spiritual master and poet, Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi. The walk took us through St. Margaret Bay’s sloping hills, flanked with dramatic chalky cliffs, and to the Pines Garden where we were joined by Jumana Moon, a storyteller from award winning theatre group Khayaal for a special performance based on a short story written by Rumi. Further stops were made along the route for short inspirational talks...
With the bar being set at the Isle of Wight, this year’s walk was much anticipated. Sights were casted towards Hastings as it offered a unique and exciting experience in both scenery and physicality. With its steep inclines, fresh streams and woods, along with breath-taking views of the coastline, this walk was one for the hikers and photographers alike!
After the successful debut of the Khatam on the Coast in Eastbourne in 2012, the Isle of Wight was geared up to take the khutam experience to new heights, and it did just that. With the luscious and truly splendid views of the Needles as a back-drop, along with the picturesque coastal scenery, this island saunter truly lived up to expectations.
Khatam on the Coast 2012 took place along the chalky white cliffs of Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, East Sussex. A three-mile sponsored walk along the coast was broken up with short inspirational talks and reminders from CEI teachers. Against a back-drop of rugged natural beauty, a dars (lesson) of Surah al-Nas formed the khatam (completion) of the Tafsir of Jus Amma course, previously taught in Crawley.
