PAST SAUNTERS
2016 – LOVEMORE EXMOOR: A SAUNTER WITH USAMA CANON
Our fifth CEI annual walk, took us to the beautiful Somerset coast at Exmoor. We celebrated FIVE years of sauntering along the coast with guests, including Usama Cannon on an exclusive 2 day UK trip. The weekend will kicked off on Friday evening with the CEI Annual Dinner at Royal Nawwab.
A SAUNTER WITH USAMA CANON
The walk began at Culbone Hotel and through a secluded pathway through the woods, leading onto open views of fields and the sea at Culbone Park. Next walkers made their way through the tangled roots of Culbone Forest, stopping at Culbone Church. The quaint building dates from the pre-Norman period and is the smallest in England. Dedicated to the Welsh saint Beuno, it has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.
From here, walkers headed towards Porlock with stunning views and finally descended onto Porlock Weir for the end of the walk. Fish and Chips were served at Miller’s at Anchor, a hotel crammed with antiques, in the picturesque, seaside town.
THEME
This year’s theme, as the name suggests, was ‘Love’ and its many different aspects.
- Love of Creation: Connecting to God through his beautiful creation.
- Power of Love: Being merciful and compassionate to thy neighbor.
- True Love: Understanding the epitome of love.
- Harboring Love: Realising love in daily life.
- Signs of Love: Knowing & understanding the signs of love.
At each stop there was a brief talk on the theme, as well as Qur’an recitation and live nasheed performances.
