COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is an exposition of The Book of Assistance, a classic text that serves as a practical guide for spiritual self-improvement. The author summarises the various stages and milestones of the spiritual path into 32 short chapters, covering topics including good character, love of God, prayer, fasting and more.
Imam ‘Abdullah b. ‘Alawi al-. Imam al-Haddad (d.1720), lived in Tarim in the Hadramaut valley and is widely held to have been the spiritual ‘renewer’ of his time. The course will be taught using PowerPoint slides, however, students are encouraged to buy the book for further reading.
During this academic year we will cover the first half of the book in Year G1 and the second half of the book in Year G2.
