Every term, CEI hosts an eight week short course in central London on a variety of topics and themes.

TERM 1

Details for London Short Course term 1.

THE LIVES OF MAN AND HIKAM

An exciting eight week course which explored selective themes about the nature of mankind (Insaan) in the Qur’an, and the stages mankind (Insaan) passes through prior to birth, in this world and after death, in Imam al-Haddad’s Lives of Man.

The Short Course also explored selected Hikam’s of Ibn ‘Ataillah.

TERM 2

Details for London Short Course term 2.

MIRACULOUS FIVE

An exciting eight-week short course which explored The Miraculous Five.

During this short course, we explored the lives of the Five Great Prophets and some of their miracles. These five great prophets have been referred to in the Qur’an as ‘The messengers of firm resolve’ (ʾulū l-ʿazmi mina r-rusul) in Q. 46:35.

We have also read sections from the Qur’an and classical poetry about them, discussed some of their miracles, the purpose of these miracles, and what we can learn from the lives of these great five Prophets, upon them be peace.

Details for London Short Course term 3.

LOWERED VOICES

During the lockdown, we held an exciting six week online short course that covered the tafsir of Sura Ḥujurāt (Q. 49) and the chapter on speech in Imam Ghazali’s Iḥyā′ ‘Ulūm al-Dīn (The Revival of the Religious Knowledge).
