Sura Ar-Rahman (Q. 55) centres on divine mercy, repeatedly asking:
“Which. then, of your Lord’s Blessings do you deny?”
It draws attention to the balance of creation and calls humans to recognise, reflect, and respond with gratitude.
This part of the short course will explore the sura’s key themes of mercy, balance, accountability, and the Hereafter, helping participants engage more deeply with its message and the structure of the sura.
The sura consists of 78 short verses beginning with the name Rahman and ending with ‘Blessed is the name of your Lord, the Lord of Glory and Bestower of Honour’. The sura will be broken into the following three sections:
Section I: God’s Bounties in This World
Section II: Eschatology – Punishment
Section III: Eschatology – Rewards
Drawing from Imām al-Ghazālī’s Book of Gratitude, it presents gratitude as more than words, it is a way of seeing and living.
True gratitude begins with recognising that every blessing comes from Allah, is felt as inner joy, and is expressed through how one uses those blessings.
This part of the short course explores gratitude through knowledge, reflection, and action, guiding participants to move beyond saying thanks, toward living it through the heart, tongue and limbs.
